Justin was writing a song, inspired by the generous gifts of time, tea, and a guitar from Paul McCartney, with whom a meeting was arranged by the Dream Team of Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. The thank-you song was nearly complete when Justin's lungs began to fail. At 9:30am, March 4, 2011, he left this earth to live only in the world of our hearts and dreams. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, March 12, in Manhattan, followed by one in Hong Kong. Please check back here for future details of both. |
May this passage from the Bible will bring some comfort to all of you......The 23rd Psalm:The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.
There is a poem I like to share with you and I think Justin is waving to ussaying these words:I'm FreeDon't Grieve for me for now I'm free,I'm following the path God has laid you see.I took His hand when I heard Him call,I turned my back and left it all.I could not stay another day,To laugh, to love, to work, to play,Tasks left undone must stay that way,I found that peace at the close of day.If my parting has left a void,Then fill it with remembered joys.A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.Oh, yes, these things I too will miss.Be not burdened with times of sorrow.I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savoured much,Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.Lift up your hearts and peace to thee,God wanted me now, He set me free.Uncle Walter
sometime ago I received a sympathy card with the following wording which touched me very much. I would like to share with you all at this time of sadness:-He who knows our every needGives us eyes of faithWith which to look beyond the cloudsOf sorrow and of deathAnd in the midst of trialWhen light seems very dimMay your eyes of faith pierceevery cloudand look right through to Him.(He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth. Psalm 135:7)
Words cannot express our sadness at Justin's departure. We have been fortunate to know him - a remarkable young man: courageous, talented, humourous, and full of life. He has now emigrated to a better place and is at peace with God. Ellie and Selwyn
Justin, your words will continue to touch and heal so many, RIP.

We all learned so much from you. We'll all miss you. RIP Justin.
I will miss you Justin. You inspired me and taught me a lot of lessons. I will never forget proper CSS/design, the importance of music (especially the Violin) in my life, and the work you did on so many projects (including FamilyLounger). Anytime I have a new idea, I'll always be sure to preface it with "I've been thinking..." so that people know how important the idea is to me. I will never forget your positive and unique attitude towards life and the people around you, and the influence you've had on all of us. Love ya bud.
I had the honor of caring for Justin when he was first diagnosed and hospitalized at Hartford Hospital. He is such a gentle soul; so bright, so kind, so full of hope and promise for the future. I was saddened for his family and friends to learn of his passing; please know that my thoughts are with you. To his wonderful mom, I am so sorry.
