People used to tell me I look a lot like my Dad. Now, we even have the same unhairdo. (Sorry for poking fun at you Dad!).
Â
I still remember one of the horrible things I said when I was little, when being bald was something that indicated a bad personality, along with smelliness and the red lego people; I asked my Dad, "When you go bald, can you stop coming into school to see me?". Wasn't I a charming young gentleman?
Â
As you can see, there's still have some fuzz left. Will probably all fall out, at which point I will shine my head to a nice glimmering sheen.
Â
I'm regaining my strength quickly, and regaining some noticeable muscle mass (really not bad for a couple days out of the ICU). It's a bit of a race of good Justin vs. Justin; I need to recover faster than my cancer before my next round of chemo.
Â
It was nice seeing a bunch of family and friends recently who saw me through the worst of my last ICU experience. It felt good to relieve everybody's worries by being able to communicate coherently. I didn't detail what happened there, but one of the toughest points both for me and for everybody with me was a point at which I couldn't communicate because of the narcotics I was being fed. I kept wanting to say I was uncomfortable and my stomach felt bad, but it kept being interpreted as pain, so the drugs kept getting piled on, making the situation worse. I remember trying to write (talking was out of the question, obviously), but all I could write was the letter E over and over again. Needless to say, having a voice again feels good!
Â
And here's the last note, which is long overdue. This is the BIG THANKS to all the people at Hartford Hospital who have been watching over me and have now saved my life more than once already. But you've done so much more than that, and have taught me a great deal about life and people, inspired me, and kept my morale up in the process.
Justin: So you're fond of E's. Here are some of my favorite E words:Energy - I pray you feel incrementally more each day.Elastic waistbands - it's a old auntie thingEvergreens covered with snowEmpire apples in the fallEffort - I'm praying the doctors, nurses and staff pour out their best on youEvolve - How can you not when you must count on others to live?Eating - Someday soon you'll be munching on your favorite dim sumEmmanuel - God with us. God with you. All the time.
Hi, Son... you and I should pose together next week...though I am not at a point of polishing it shiny quite yet...haha..We just have to get into a habit of wearing hats..a bit of hip these days. I definitely will bring a few hats with me next week. One other note..you still have dark eyebrows which i don't. Perhaps I can use eyebrow pencil to darken mine to make sure I look like you.It doesn't matter - God loves us just the same.Love and hugs. Dad

Hi Justin, glad that you are out of ICU. Hey, you look smart even without hair. Keep up with your good spirit. You will recover soon.
Wow! Justin. We feel so relieved to see you. You not only look like your Dad, (of course, younger and more handsome), and you have a glimpse of your Mom's smile too. Praise Him again. You are an inspiration to us and to many who have gone through the tough journey. Keep up with your fighting spirit. You will be strong and well again very soon. God is wonderful to all of us. Never cease praying for His wondrous work. Love you loads,Gu Ma Betty and Uncle Moses
Hey Justin... iPhone was not functioning well in KL (where I was in the past 3 days) and couldn't leave you a message. You are looking great!! I am sure your dad is secretly happy that he has more hair than you for once. But I am sure this will not last long... soon you'll be all well again and your thick dark brown hair will grow back. We are all thinking of you and praying for you everyday. We love you loads and miss you!! Get well soon and come home soon!
